Colegio Fiscal Pintag

For the service part of CAS, most of the students in year 13 are involved in the project between our school and 'Colegio Fiscal Pintag' a public school very close to ours. The aims of this project were to establish a link between the two schools and help them by giving them school materials and working at improving parts of their infrastructure. We were well aware that this could not be completed in one year so we focused a lot of establishing and strengthening the link between the schools so that the students in the lower years can continue to work with them.
What we did manage to do was deliver a large amount of new school materials for them and help fix their library, nursery and main classroom. We also began work on the new designs for their playground which is not a place safe for children. It was a very fulfilling project, one which we hope will continue in the folowing years.

Huairasinchi AR World Series

Huairasinchi AR World Series is a three day adventure competition that is held in Ecuador every year organized by Proyecto Aventura. It is currently the highest race in the world due to the high altitudes in Ecuador and also one of the most diverse, thanks to Ecuador's wonderful landscape. This year, the competitors began the race on the 13th of February and the last team arrrived well past sunset on the 15th. I volunteered and was part of the organization team working at setting up, registering the teams, following the race, blogging and generally being involved in all the aspects of the competition. Proyecto Aventura and the main volunteers arrived to the resgistration site in the night of the 11th of February to set up and worked all day on the 12th carrying out the registration, generl assembly, press conference and campsite. For the following four days, everyone involved in the competition began work in the early hours of the morning carrying on to past midnight meaning that sleep was not often as everyone had to be available to follow the ongoing race. The race finished late on the 15th and culminated in the awards ceremony in the afternoon of the 16th.
Personally, I was part of the principal set-up team, meaning that we were stationed in one place where we were able to constantly update the website and blog, transport anything that was needed to the various locations of the competition and set-up and take down everything that was used. It is an activity that I would love to be involved in again.

(These are articles that were written by me at the time of the race)

'The Crucible' secondary play production

This year the secondary school play production was a performance of 'The Crucible' by Arthur Miller. I was involved in the same way as I was last year; as Stage Director, Backstage Manager and part of Tiny Piano Productions (the student committee that takes part in the planning and organization of the play). In addition to this, the year 13 Tiny Piano members also took on the role of woking with the members from years 11 and 12 so that they would be able to carry on the committe in the following years. The play was a tremendous success and another great experience for everyone involved.
